Weather and Closings

Inclement Weather Policy

On snowy or icy afternoons/evenings, if weather conditions cause the TBI Triangle campus location to close, the other TBI campus locations may not be affected.  If it is announced that all TBI campus locations are closed for either inclement weather or any other type of emergency which might arise, time missed will not be considered an absence and will not be made up.The TBI makes its closing decisions independently of the public schools and other colleges and universities. We DO NOT adhere to Prince William County School codes.  The decision to close the TBI is based on the condition of the campuses’ roads and parking lots, the roads immediately surrounding the campuses and the major highways in the region. The Institute is likely to be open when these facilities are in reasonably good condition, regardless of the condition of secondary roads around the region.

The decision to close the TBI because of severe weather or other reasons shall be made by the Academic Dean on the recommendation of the Executive Director.  Once a decision has been made, no later than 5:00 p.m., the Executive Director will notify TBI faculty and staff members and the SBMBC Office as well as radio and television stations and other appropriate media.  Every effort will be made to have closedown information in the news media by 2:00 p.m. for night classes.

This is how to interpret closing/cancellation announcements you hear:

Triangle Bible Institute is closed:  TBI will be closed until conditions permit resumption of evening classes.  When this simple announcement is made, it means that no evening classes will be held.

Classes at Triangle Bible Institute is canceled:  Classes are canceled for that evening and will resume on the following evening.

Star Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church evening activities canceled:  Classes are canceled for that evening and will resume on the following evening.

Also, a notice will be posted on the Institute’s home page on its Website.  Additionally, notice will appear on television stations [(4-WRC/NBC), (5-WTTG/FOX), (7-WJLA/ABC), or (9-WUSA/CBS) but check your local listings] as well as radio stations AM 1580, FM 103.5 and FM 104.1.
